Five years and counting, victims of Budhshah Nagar Murder case await justice

Srinagar, : Victim’s family of the infamous 2012 Budshah Nagar Murder case has been awaiting justice since past five years, hoping that the accused would be brought to the book soon.
Ghulam Muhammad Shah and his three family members were injured on being attacked with rods by family of their neighbour on July 4, 2012. Shah, who was hit in head with rod, succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura the next day.
Srinagar police registered a case FIR no: 135/ 2012 under section 302, 34, 120B- RPC in police station Saddar. During the investigation Saddar police arrested all the accused, Maqsood Hussain Khan and his two sons Sadat and Fahad and Mst Rozy wife of Maqsood Hussain on 6.07.2012.
“One person has already been released on bail and others too are demanding it. All we want is that the accused must be punished as per the law,” says Ikhwana, a close relative of slain Ghulam Muhammad Shah.
She told VOV that the one released on bail earlier had stated that he had a cardiac issue while in court later, the accused produced the documents related to Ortho ailment. “The family of the accused are even threatening us today and are trying to even threaten the witnesses but we have full faith in our judicial system and we are sure that it will put them behind bars and serves an example for others for such a heinous crime,” Shah’s family said.
Five years have passed and we are waiting for the justice to be delivered, the family said, adding that it demands exemplary punished to the convicts so that no one does that to anyone what accused did to us.
