Army commander says it will take years for dialogue to succeed in Kashmir

Lt General JS Sandhu, the GOC of Srinagar based 15 corps has said that anti militancy operations will continue in spite of Dineshwar Sharma holding talks with different shades of opinion in Kashmir. In an interview with Indian express he ruled  out any chances of calling off anti militancy operations in Kashmir valley as the central government has appointed Dineshwar Sharma to hold talks. In an interview Sandhu said that dialogue and anti militancy operations will continue simultaneously.
Indicating that the dialogue process started by Dineshwar Sharma will be time consuming. He said that he dose not expect miracles or quick results by dialogue process in Kashmir. The army general acknowledged that there is a growing alienation among the people of Kashmir and said that it could be reduced by providing job opportunities to youth and new livelihood options for the general masses. He admitted that growing radicalisation among the youth of Kashmir was the biggest challenge.
The army commander said that they have deployed additional troops near the line of control in entire J&K state as he claimed that infiltration attempts across the border have increased. The interview of army commander JS Sandhu has put to rest all the speculations in the media that central government will soon call off all, the anti militancy operations in Kashmir valley to pave way for a sustained dialogue with Seperatists in future.
