Sri Lanka, Pakistan teams to depart for Lahore tonight

ABU DHABI – Pakistan and Sri Lanka cricket teams will depart for Lahore tonight, where they will play T20I match, the third and final of the series on Sunday in a historic moment for Pakistan.

All-rounder Thisara Perera will lead the Sri Lankan team after Upal Tharanga was pulled out, the Sri Lankan team will depart from Abu Dhabi at 10 pm and arrive in Lahore at 2:25 am.

Pakistani team, on the other hand, will depart from Dubai via another flight tonight and reach Lahore at 1:50 am.

The Pakistan already lead the T20I series 2-0, after beating Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the opening game and winning a last-ball thriller in the second T20I.

Sunday’s game will can be regarded as the homecoming of top-level international cricket as Sri Lanka become the first major cricket team to visit Pakistan since they were targeted in a deadly terrorist attack in 2009 — with many survivors included in the Sri Lankan cricket team who would be returning to the scene.

Security personnel numbering over tens of thousands will be deployed in Lahore for this momentous occasion. They will guard the stadium routes and in addition to that aerial surveillance and intelligence monitoring are also on standby to provide foolproof security for this match.(Agencies)
