The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) aimed its gun at the recent revelations linking absconding arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra.

The BJP questioned the Congress leadership’s silence on the allegations that Sanjay Bhandari was engaged in financial dealings with Vadra.

“Why is the senior leadership of the Congress silent on the Vadra matter? They need to answer on the relationship between arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari and Robert Vadra,” senior BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman said at a press conference.

“Is Congress leadership, by being silent, implying they knew of it?” Sitharaman queried.

Robert Vadra was linked to Sanjay Bhandari earlier when it emerged that the latter was helping him refurbish property in London.

The CBI had stumbled upon exhange of emails between their offices when investigating close to 7,50,000 Swiss francs deposited in Bhandari’s account by Swiss aircraft manufacturer Pilatus as part of a 2012 deal that Bhandari was helping them secure with the Government of Indian.

Recently, it has also come to light that Bhandari had helped secure business class seats on a flight for Robert Vadra through a company called International Travel Home.(Agencies)
