Pakistan lose Test series against Sri Lanka in UAE

DUBAI: Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka by 68 runs in the second Test on the fifth and final day in Dubai on Tuesday. Sri Lanka won the two match series 2-0 and Pakistan suffered its first series loss since the team started playing its home matches in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Pakistan faltered chasing 317 and were bowled out for 248 in their second innings with Dilruwan Perera finishing with 5-98.

Resuming at 198-5 Pakistan lost Sarfraz Ahmed for 65 while Asad Shafiq scored 112 for his 11th Test century.

Earlier, paceman Wahab Riaz grabbed four for 41 and left-arm spinner Haris Sohail took three wickets in a single over to dismiss Sri Lanka for 96 in their second innings.

Sri Lanka won the first Test by 21 runs in Abu Dhabi.

The two teams will now play a five-match one-day series followed by three Twenty20 internationals, the last of which is scheduled for Lahore on October 29. (Agencies)
