Clashes in Kakapora post civilian killings

Government forces on Monday burst teargas shells to disperse youth protesting against the killing of a youth in pellet firing yesterday.

An eye witness said that youth took to streets and pelted forces deployed in the area with stones.

The forces responded by firing teargas shells, triggering further clashes.

Owais Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kakapora, was killed yesterday after forces fired pellets to disperse protesters.

Dar sustained multiple pellet injuries in right part of his chest following which he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

He was referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
