22 social media sites to remain down for a month in Kashmir

J&K government in consultation  with central intelligence agencies have decided to put a ban on 22 social media sites in Kashmir for a month to control student protests . In an order the government banned Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, QQ, WeChat, Qzone, Tumblr, Google+, Baidu, Skype, Viber, Line, Snapchat, Pinterest, Telegram, Reddit, Snapfish, Youtube, Vine, Xanga, Buzznet and Flickr

  • In the month of April alone the government suspended internet services twice to control protests. Security and intelligence agencies believe that the present wave of student protests will come to an end by stopping this social media sites. Recently some protests and thrashing by police were uploaded live on these social media sites triggering more protests.
