Srinagar: BJP, RSS and other right wing parties will press for the trifurcation of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and they want to get separated from Kashmir Valley, informed sources told Voice of Valley.

BJP leaders have also contacted their leaders in the Ladakh region and they want that Ladakh should get UT status without any further delay. The people of Ladakh and Jammu have been suffering because of unrest in the Valley and we want to separate from them, a BJP leader from Jammu told this Newspaper.

Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Sonam Dawa Lonpo of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), told some newspapers before the visit of Amit Shah that the people of Ladakh will press for UT status.

But Dr Farooq Abdullah during a recent television discussion on NDTV said that some political elements in Jammu and Ladakh regions were trying to portray that the people of those two regions want to separate from Valley but it is not a fact. “People in two districts of Jammu have different aspiration than Valley, but rest of the Jammu region especially the Chenab Valley has same sentiment as Kashmir. Similarly people of Kargil want to go with Kashmir. There only Leh has a problem”, Farooq Abdullah in the discussion.  There is lot of support to the demand of UT especially from the BJP leadership and it was in this backdrop that they went for a general strike on April 9, 2017 the call given by Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) for this demand.
