Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government has finalized all the arrangements for annual Durbar move to summer capital Srinagar. The offices will close in Jammu on April 28 and will re-open in Srinagar on May 8. Security cover and security escort measures were reviewed to ensure safe and smooth movement of vehicles to Srinagar.  The annual Durbar move is a very costly exercise on which crores are spent every year and no government has been able to say good bye to this autocratic exercise of maharajas.

It was only Dr Farooq Abdullah as chief minister who tried to do away with this practice and he also succumbed finally when he faced week’s long protests in Jammu. J&K state is already being drained by security related measure and Durbar move is proving a icing on this cake.
